The faith of every individual on earth is determined by their own nature. Man is made up of his own faith. Whatever a man’s faith is, verily that is what he is.
Bhagavad Gita 17:3

Dear Members,

Everyone has their own certain base beliefs – the one central belief that drives each one of us. If we believe that knowledge is the most important then we spend all our energies in acquiring knowledge. If we believe that money will make us happy, then we dedicate all our time and efforts towards acquiring money and if we believe in spiritual pursuits then our thoughts are focused in that direction at all times. Thus, each individual is driven by his own belief which becomes his own personal faith.

Taking this forward, as expert finance professionals we are the advisors and counsellors responsible for our stakeholders’ success is something we should take P.R.I.D.E. in and that should form part of our faith in ourselves.

With competition increasing day by day, the need of the hour is to integrate our strengths and collaborate with each other. This will also create opportunities enabling us to provide better services to all stakeholders. I look forward towards a more integrated profession where we are united in our quest to continue to provide the high calibre services which are the hallmark of a true Chartered Accountant.

It is also vital that we adopt a dedicated learning and development culture. Looking beyond the traditional boundaries of the profession is essential in a fast moving world where AI, ChatGPT and other mechanisms change the way the world operates. Keeping track and implementing this dedicated learning ethos will be critical for our future growth and I ask our members to put forth their thoughts for the same so that we can continue to keep our Region at the front-line of knowledge and services.

As we gear up for an exhaustive audit season I would like to update you on the latest happenings at WIRC.

New Branch of WIRC of ICAI

I am pleased to share that we have added a new member to our WIRC Branch Family. We welcome the Gandhinagar Branch of WIRC and look forward to interacting with them and support them in all their endeavours.

New CPE Guidelines

Human interaction is crucial to professional growth. The new CPE guidelines are in force now and virtual webinars will not be eligible to provide Structured CPE hours thus making physical programs must for availing the requisite CPE credits during the year. To that end, WIRC is gearing up to increase the number of physical events, making it possible for all members to comply with ease.

E-newsletter

Our WIRC E-newsletter has been redesigned, featuring various interactive sections with improved navigation to make it more impactful and act as a proper resource. The ‘Miscellaneous Sections’ and ‘Networking Section’ are the space to watch out for. We will enable members and firms to reach out and create synergy to form professional partnerships, achieve goals, grow business, and break barriers. Members may write to us at wirc.connect@icai.in with their requirements for networking.

Virtual Bank Audit Book

Taking our publications to the next level, we have integrated QR Codes into our signature publication on ‘Bank Audit’. This simple yet impactful innovation will allow access to this publication which will be updated on real time basis. We look forward to implementing instant updates for future publications ensuring all members are completely up-to-date with latest amendments and notifications.

Wonderful Women Week

WIRC organised a spectacular Wonderful Women Week from 3-11 March. It raised awareness about women’s health, encouraged creativity via art & craft, showcased women CAs talents & organised workshops on personality development & team building. The Walkathon on 5th march was flagged off by Ms. Jaya Satnam Singh Tiwana (former municipal councillor). We congratulate all the Branches for organising a Walkathon on 5th March across the entire Region. This Region-wide event saw enthusiastic participation by women members making it a great success.

WIRC Box Cricket Tournament

The WIRC Box Cricket Tournament held at the Andheri Sports Complex saw a phenomenal response with over 500 members participating in the event. For the first time ever, matches were broadcast live along with real-time online scores. The enthusiasm of the participants ensured that this becomes a calendar event for us.

सप्तऋषि’ Project

WIRC has launched ‘Project सप्तऋषि’ in order to collaborate with educational institutions across seven vital areas, viz.  Career Counselling Sessions, Faculty Development Programs, Assistance in Syllabus Drafting / Coaching for CA Students, forming an Accounting Museum, Infrastructure in the form of Reading Rooms for CA Students, support via Skill Development Programs for Undergraduate Students – (Train Earn Learn [TEL]) and assisting them to adopt Blockchain Technology. If any member wishes to carry out any of these activities, do connect with us at wirc@icai.in

As you can see from these initiatives, 2023-24 is shaping up to be a tremendously dynamic year keeping in mind the utilisation and implementation of various innovative technologies to achieve our goals across multiple arenas.

These tasks can only be accomplished through our collective efforts and by developing a positive learning mindset. In the words of Chanakya,

Slokena vā tadardhena tadardhārdhākṣareṇa vā।
abandhyaṃ divasaṃ kuryāddānādhyayanakarmabhiḥ॥ 02-13

“Let not a single day pass without your learning a verse, half a verse, or a fourth of it, or even one letter of it; nor without attending to charity, study and other pious activity.” – Chanakya

The direct relation between the mind-set of an effective CA and Chanakya’s teachings is clear as he states that a day without learning is a day without progress. He strongly believed in the power of education in transforming life. This is exactly our mission which we practice every day through our endeavours to further educate and upskill our members and students.

I wish all members a value-added New Financial Year 2023-24 and with your support look forward to an exciting year ahead.
