Greetings of the season!
I am writing to share with you FOUR important aspects of the ICAI elections.
I understand you are a FIRST TIME VOTER and would have been receiving mailers, sms and whatsapps from various fronts. Not to mention birthday and festival wishes and social media campaigns. Trust me for some of us, it is overwhelming as this makes us realise again that we as CAs are so relevant and belong to a small fraternity of 3,30,000 members only in India. For some, this would be irritating and frustrating too. It is always a debatable issue and probably one may not like this process, but only till you realise the importance of reaching out and the efforts that it takes to do so. However, one thing is for sure, the experience could definitely enrich oneself.
I would here, humbly invite you to participate in this largest networking event for CAs i.e. “ICAI Elections 2021”. The time for exercising your right of voting for your representative at Institute is here, so ensure to go out and I.N.K yourself (Involve Network and Konnect)
FOUR important things about the elections:
I. Block the date and Place: 3*and 4 December 2021 at a polling booth near you. Check your eligibility to vote and your polling booth: You can check this at https://www.arpitkabra.in/ >> Know your Polling booth
*Only at these cities Ahmedabad, Bhayandar, Chinchwad, Dombivali, Kalyan, Mira Road, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Rajkot, Surat, Thane, Vadodara
II. Ballots : In these elections every Voter from a region has to vote for two kinds of Member. One for Central Council (different from Central Regional council) and Other for respective Regional Council. A
Ballot paper for each of these will be provided to you at the booth. Accordingly, please invest some time to Know and Choose your Candidate.
The best part of the elections is to know all the Candidates, look at their profile and check out the activities that they have done and where they stand in the Profession to decide whom to vote for. Knowing the Candidate is a must and as a first time voter and young CA, please do so effectively.
III. Preferential Voting
The ICAI elections are unique and are absolutely participative in nature. You can choose to vote for as many candidates as you wish to (infact all of them if you want) by giving your preferences (1, 2, 3 …). Entire
process of choosing preferences is very valuable and you should exercise it with responsibility. An informed decision will always help in choosing the right candidates to represent our profession !
IV. Anywhere Voting
As a Voter in WIRC, you can vote for and elect Central Council Member and Western Regional Council Member via the ballot paper which you shall receive at the polling booth. The voting is to be done by going physically at the polling booth allotted to you as per your professional address updated on the Self-Service Portal (SSP) of ICAI (the same can be checked on https://www.arpitkabra.in/>>know your polling booth)
a) Anywhere in the Region
You can now choose to vote from any place in the region by applying for change in the polling booth 14 days in advance (before 19th November 2021).
b) Anywhere in the Country
You can choose to vote for WIRC from any location in the country by applying for change in the polling booth 21 days in advance (before 12th November 2021).
Do vote to bring the best people that you wish to see as your representatives and face of ICAI. As a next generation CA, understand who can create value for the brand CA and avoid exercising the vote on the basis of anything other than merit and credentials
Trust these pointers will make sense to you and motivate you to enjoy this entire process. Still if you wish otherwise, please ignore the same and ensure you do VOTE and make CAs around you do so too!
Hey there, do I.N.K yourself!
Best regards,
CA Kabra Arpit Jagdish
Candidate for WIRC elections
Believer in coming together to make a difference!
